Please send out all the subscribe info for <discuss@dnso.org> so we
can all subscribe to the list with our preferred address.
BTW, I spent a about an hour this afternoon writing a strongly worded
message to the DNSO.ORG leaders pointing out whart was going to happen
to them if they did not open up and be done with it.
I also pointed out that I had made a big point in Monterey of the
notion that DNSO.ORG was going to have to make deliberate moves to
REACH OUT TO ALL STAKEHOLDERS, or suffer the fate of failing to become
the accepted solution. I see that my advice was not taken, and I am
pleased to note that I did not foment this current rebellion. In
fact, I had nothing to do with this particular event, as I have been
overly busy with family affairs for the holidays.
On the subject of formig a more open DNSO, I suggest that ORSC is
perhaps well positioned to do so, and I strongly suggest that the ORSC
version should promptly incorporate in Deleware, as that is where we
know how to do it quickly and efficiently, and where we can obtain the
right kind of non-profit trade association with proper accountability
to its membership. I suggest the name be "DNSO.COM, Inc."
ORSC should now lead an effort to create a set of bylaws that
incorporate as much as possible from the current ORSC bylaws submitted
to to NTIA as a counter to ICANN, and also meld in as much as posible
from the latest DSNO.ORG draft, and also obtain recommendations from
iaTLD, and other DNS/TLD groups and organizations.
ORSC has experience in running open mailing lists with civil discourse
rules, and we will be pleased to apply that experience here.
Our objective will be to draw into this new effort all possible DNS
stakeholders.
Do we have any takers? Who wants to go for it with a real outreach
and effort to really pull everyone into it.
This will not be an ORSC-only effort, as we will start with a new
slate using existing bylaws and draft plans to meld the specifications
of a truly open and representative DNSO.
Lets turn this mess to a positive goal, and end this silly zero-cum
game playing.
Cheers...\Stef
PS: I am going to deep six my unsent message;-)...\Stef
