Dear All,
Well, after over three years of organising and organisations and chaos and
lack of progress and diversions and more and more players coming to the
table, we now reach an entirely predictable situation ...
... we are in exactly the same place we were at the beginning and NSI has a
market cap of $2bn.
It is very obvious that the battle to control the DNS has moved from ICANN
to the DNSO. This was so predictable. The same people, the same arguments,
the same vested interests, and the same beneficiaries.
I presume that the moment someone imposes a DNSO the battle will move to
the one of the interest sections of the DNSO.
I have lost track of what we are trying to achieve. We don't seem to be
trying to get more names in the root, or to introduce competition, or to
sort out the IP issues, or to rebuild the technology, or to make the world
a better place to live in.
I'm sorry, but could someone remind me what the key issues are here?
Thanks and compliments of the season.
Ivan
