James Fiander
Candidate in ICANNATLARGE.COM Interim Panel Election April 2002
Well I shall start by introducing myself; my name is James Fiander. I live in Western Suberbia of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Now, it was suggested that I give you a URL to my website, so here it is: http://www.nimblehost.com Nimblehost is a small almost hobby business that I run.
I would like to build an atLARGE organisation that is large enough and strong enough in it's opinions to goto ICANN and say "This is what the public wants" "This is what the USERS want".
I should first start off by saying how I think "The internet" should run. Such a large entity as "The Internet" and all of the networks connected to it, should be left to a SINGLE organisation to manage, if we have several organisations organising... we will inevitably end up in disarray. In this single organisation (ICANN) there should be a place for the business users (which there is), a place for the internet business owners (which there is), a place for the Service Providers (which this is) and a place for the users of the Internet (AtLarge - which there is NOT!).
In AtLarge we should have discussions on all policies which will affect the way that the community and each individual user uses the internet, and by doing this we should then submit our decisions in writting to ICANN to be taken into account when decisions are being made.
I think that I would be a good candidate for this position because I can dedicate time to the process, I am versed on most other issues relating to ICANN and the internet and am willing to use my knowledge and experience on the internet to help to lead the AtLarge membership.
If you would like to ask any questions about myself personally or the directions that I hope to lead AtLarge into... please don't hestitate to contact me on jfiander@nimblehost.com
