Section 5(7) states: "Promptly after the adoption of this Transition Article, the Generic Names Supporting Organization shall, through the GNSO Council, make selections of Directors to fill Seats 13 and 14 on the New Board, with terms to conclude upon the commencement of the first regular terms specified for each of those Seats in Article VI, Section 8(1)(d) and (e) of the New Bylaws, and shall give the ICANN Secretary written notice of its selections."

Provision is made for this during the GNSO Council teleconference, January 16, 2003

The purpose of this server is to provide a point of rendez-vous for all interested in the Internet Domain Names issues.
The structure of the Domain Name Supporting Organization of ICANN was determined in Singapore, March 4, 1999, see Domain Name Supporting Organization Formation Concepts
The main document for ICANN and its Supporting Organizations is ICANN Bylaws (As Amended through July 16, 2000), for more documents see http://www.icann.org.
The first DNSO General Assembly was held in Berlin, May 25, 1999.

The structure of ICANN's Supporting Organizations was reformed as of 15 December 2002 when new Bylaws were adopted after an intensive evolution and reform process

The Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) is the successor to the responsibilities of the Domain Name Supporting Organization that relate to the generic top-level domains.
