Re: [wg-c] WG Chairs Trial Balloon

Milton Mueller misunderstood by point about the disembowelment
of the IAHC/POC/CORE philosophy.

The IAHC/POC/CORE philosophy would not be disemboweled by
the outcome of voting. It would be disemboweled by the recurrent
bleating that anyone who has had anything to do with that process
in the past is unclean. The process of shouldering the Old Guard
away from the sanctum sanctorum began with Javier, an easier
target by virtue of his selection by the NC.

Of course, the fact that we're preparing a report for the NC is not
at all relevant, is it?

Having largely marginalized Javier, the critics' next target was
Kent Crispin. Kent would be confused with an easy target only
by those who don't know him . . . or by those who believe it is
congruent with their objectives to set this WG to chasing its own
tail for the next three months instead of developing consensus.
In any case, I can attest that Kent is anything but a CORE automaton.
He has policy views that are sharply at odds with what CORE really
wishes to see happen. And he has a demonstrated ability to build
consensus where none is thought to exist.

Enough already. In a less rancorous group, I would suggest that a
form ballot be posted, in order to facilitate tabulation by script.
However, even that won't work here, since we'd inevitably get into
a contest over the order of candidates. (In a face-to-face meeting,
I daresay we'd still be debating the size and shape of the table.)

Instead, I'm going to start a new thread, entitled WG-C Chair Poll.
The body of my message will be the name of the member whom
I believe should be our elected chairwam. I suggest that the other
members reply to the message (without quoting it to avoid confusion :-)
with the names of their preferred chairwem. Those members who
have not posted to the ballot thread by this time next week should
be pestered into voting; ultimately, we should get a feel for whether
or not consensus will emerge.
