No, it shouldn't. They gold plate their bathroom handles, so it should be
$8 per domain name. And neither your nor I should tell them otherwise,
it's not our business.

Except if you're in love with highly regulated common carrier
models. Ironically, even then, neither the FCC CCB nor
the State PUCs ever got to that level of detail.
