The answer to the "So?!?!" is that the assertion that IAHC was different 
from POC/CORE was false, as was the assertion that either of them tried to 
take over the root.

Over a 1-2 year period, starting roughly 3 years ago, there were a number 
of OTHER efforts, with names such as Alternic, eDNS, uDNS, etc., that were 
entirely independent of IANA and which were in fact efforts at replacing 
the IANA root.  They never got very far.
