No public registry should have anything to do with trademark or
other name ownership issues.  Why a registry would want to put
itself under such liability is incomprehensible.
Intra-national issues about names of all kinds are handled within
each nation.  International issues are handled via treaties

Country Code TLDs should be controlled by the individual nations,
or gotten rid of.  If a nation wants to allow some creative use
of its TLD name, that's their business.

If a public registry does not involve itself in the value of
names per se, how can it possibly establish policies that honor
such subtle and subjective sentiments as the below?

Do the people on this email list really think they have the power
to
institute such policies?  I think you are self-deluded if you
think so, but in any case I hope you are wrong.

I wish I could be reassured that all of you anti-free-market,
command-economy advocates were just too young to know any better
yet ... but that would be letting those of you who do know better
off the hook a bit too easily.
