If one is willing to accept the principle that in a democracy sovreignty
vests in the people then one has to accept that such can be a perfectly
acceptable outcome.  Irrational choices are sometimes made - but not very
often.  And the cost of those mistakes is greatly outweighed by the
benefits of the overall process.

All those registrars and registries you so worry about are free to
participate in an open membership.  If they can't carry their point, then
perhaps they didn't have one in the first place.

Under your rubric we ought to hand the election of the US President and
Congress over to corporations - just like has been done in the DNSO.
