But when it comes to Board policy, right from the first stirrings of Joe
Sims' handpicked "interim Board" , Kent, who is more knowledgeable than
most, due to his close involvement with the failed pre-ICANN gTLDMoU coup,
and his standing at the cradle of the DNSO in Barcelona and Monterrey,
seems to act as an unofficial Board spokesman in practically all
domain-policy fora, including the NCDNHC.
This is a time-tested way for Authorities to test the strength and the
arguments of opposition to them, without committing themselves by direct
communication.
It also allows them to appear benign when they can take a step back from
the most extreme positions of such "unofficial spokemen".
Please do not regard this a personal. Kent is doing a professional job.
Sometimes he gets carried away and gets peoples' goat. Sometimes he enjoys
that.
Eh, Kent?
"If my mere presence causes people to lose it, I can't do anything about it
(though it gives me a strange and gloomy feeling of power)".
