Just a few points on the concept of private and public posts from my
personal perspective. This has some bearing given the recent media
attention given to the recent copyright issues in Australia.
If I post to a public list and responses to that post are sent back to me
either in private or through the public forum, I will treat such messages as
I see fit, unless there is a specific notification included in the message
that the message is for my perusal only. In such cases I may respect those
wishes depending on the contents and how it may be reasonable to expect the
public dissemination to be of benefit in the review or discussion of the
topic.
I maintain the right, e-mail messages sent to me contain no copyrighted
material and any such messages sent to my e-mail addresses conveys the right
of publication to me in the event there is a copyright claim on such
material. This is a condition of sending to any of my e-mail addresses.
In the event I recognise any copyright claims on any e-mail content, it is a
condition of such recognition that all expenses associated with the
distribution of said e-mail through my computer systems must be re-imbursed.
Such re-imbursement to include the cost of downloading said e-mail and a fee
for the time spent in dealing with the e-mail and any such copyright claim.
The minimum fee for such re-imbursement is currently set at $5.00 AuD.
Details on what is considered reasonable re-imbursement will be available
upon request as will a response indicating acceptance or non-acceptance of
any restrictions senders may wish to apply on e-mail sent to me.
I consider my e-mail addresses to be a private convenience for myself and
those I wish to communicate with. It is something I finance personally and
I do not convey any rights or privileges to others who may use my e-mail
addresses. If anyone has a concern regarding e-mail communication with me,
it is their responsibility to acquaint themselves with my terms of use.
It should be noted that although I maintain the above rights, in practice,
the observance of normal acceptable behaviour with regards to e-mail
dissemination is considered a high priority.
Darryl (Dassa) Lynch.
