[wg-review] Our new mandate

Dear Review Working Group participants, the following notice has been
posted:

At its meeting on 13 March 2001, the ICANN Board considered the DNSO
Review Report submitted by the Names Council and passed the following
resolutions:

   "DNSO Review

   Whereas:

   The Board has received the DNSO Review report from the Names Council,
   and other materials on the subject.

   The Board also is informed that the Names Council has planned to
   address the results of the review in its business plan for 2001,
   beginning with an interim committee to establish terms of reference
   for further action.

   Therefore it is resolved that:

   [Resolution 01.28] The Board asks the Names Council and other sources
   to separate their proposals into those that improve operations of the
   DNSO as it is constituted today and those which may result in changes
   in the structure of the DNSO and/or major changes in its functioning.

   [Resolution 01.29] The Board encourages input related to changes that
   improve operations of the DNSO as it is constituted today no later
   than April 16, 2001. Further Board action on the basis of that input
   will be scheduled at the end of that period."

In accordance with these resolutions, Names Council, working group,
constituency, and general assembly input related to improvements to the
operations of the DNSO as it is constituted today should be submitted by
16 April either to the web-based public comment forum at
<http://forum.icann.org/dnsoreview1/> or by sending an e-mail to
<mailto:touton@icann.org).

Whereas the Board has specifically asked for working group input within the
next month, it is time to focus our efforts on the job at hand.   As changes
in the structure of the DNSO are matters that will affect us all for years
to come, it is my belief that this is the subject area upon which this WG
should now focus its full attention.  I will be sending an email to every
participant in this WG to re-involve them in these discussions.  My thanks
to all of you that have supported this WG; your contributions have been well
noted by an appreciative Board.
