RE: [council] Call for comments on the Interim Report from theWG-C,new gTLDs.
I've read the rather ongoing debate on how long to allow comment period to
last for WG-C documents. Two weeks was used and taking into account the
length of the report/annexes, and complexity, suggest the NC amend the
original posting and extend the original deadline to January 3, 1999 (that's
a Monday, and allows for 45 days). I think 10 weeks is much too long;
likewise, nothing except the extension of comment time is being changed,
i.e., the report, with annexes, is what is being commented on, as it was
when the announcement for comments was made.
If no one objects to the 45 day comment period (with January 3 being the
deadline), Elisabeth and I'll draft an announcement to go out.

Colleagues,
I would be very interested in your comments on this e-mail.
It is my understanding that several people and international groups have
complained that there is no possibility of commenting on a set of documents
like this in two weeks - I think 10 weeks has been mentioned as a reasonable
timescale. (These complaints were (I think) in relation to ICANN documents
rather than WG documents)
I am particularly interested in hearing the views of the non US members of
the
Names Council on this.
Thanks
Dennis
