[ga] Re: Alternative root systems

Yang and all,

Your comments seem to indicate a negative tone towards
"Alternate Root" structures. As they are already a part of the
DNS now, I fail to understand why your tone of you comments
are constructive. It also seems obvious to even a laymen in DNS
related issues and structure, how "Alternate Root" structures
would be in any way out of focus. They are indeed where the
focus should and needs to be in part as they already exist
and are growing although slowly.

The answer to all of this is a "Shared Root" structure where
existing "Alternate Root" structures and the "Legacy Root"
structure can be combined. Bind 8.2 and Bind 9 already
provide for this to occur. Failure of the cooperation of
ICANN in this regard seems to be the culprit, rather than
a resolver, so to speak, or pardon the technical pun, to
addressing this stakeholder desired result.
