The lack of comment is probably caused by cynicism about the real intent of 
the statement.
Or else: people are just dumbstruck.

Many of us have wasted their time with fruitless ICANN meetings before.
This time ICANN staff is kind enough to give us advance notice:
Don't bother with MdR unless you are interested in "security issues"

Perhaps it is better to spend solid time to come more prepared for the next 
meeting.
