Interestingly, the Iraqi State Company for Internet Services has apparently
seen fit to move the domain name for the main Iraqi government internet
portal from Register.com to Go Daddy Software, just in time for the ICANN
meeting:

That would apparently solve one problem for Register.com, but creates a new
one for Go Daddy, which is also a US company subject to the Iraqi Sanctions
Regulations (31 CFR 575 et seq.).

Congratulations to Register.com for washing their hands of this one.
