[ga] ITAA Calls for Immediate New Federal IT Security Funding
All assembly members,
FYI. See:
http://dc.internet.com/news/article/0,1934,2101_920931,00.html
Some excerpts:
"The annual Congressional report card review of federal agency
network security systems gave an "F" to the Departments of
Defense, Commerce, Energy, and Justice and Treasury. The
National Science Foundation led the list of the 24 largest
agencies and departments with a B+. The Social Security
System earned a C+ and NASA squeezed by the passing
mark with a C-.
Most, though, failed to withstand the hacks into their systems
routinely conducted by the General Accounting Office
(GAO) to test security.
"No responsible parent would stand for this kind of performance,"
said ITAA President Harris N. Miller. "I do not believe the
American taxpayers are willing to be more lenient, particularly
with the high priority given to homeland defense."
Miller called on Congress to move "forcefully" to harden federal
agency information systems."
============ End of excerpts ============
They ought to see how terribly bad the Root server structure is and
how
terribly badly the ICANN BoD and staff have handled their
responsibilities
with the security of the DNS, their registries and registrars.
Appalling! :(
Regards,
