Because the not changing leaves the domains with the registrar who has
the biggest risk of actually screwing up your domains in practice,
much more so than any other registrar.  To this day, NSI has domains
being hijacked via forged faxes.

You think your domains are safe if you leave them there?

They aren't.

When balanced against the risk of hijacking, the risk you are taking
by staying there is much greater than any of the fictional and
theoretical risks that you and others have dreamed up in this thread.
