Re: [ga] Motion asking for GA poll on rebid of ICANN contract
Jamie and all assembly members,
Jamie, I don't think a poll is a valid way of expressing the consensus
of the GA members. A proper ballot on your motion is.
I and several other GA members have ask for ballots on
motions/resolutions before sense Thomas became Chair.
He refused to ask the secretariat for a ballot all three times.
They are as follows:
1. The WLS issue.
2. Privacy concerns with WHOIS
3. Domain Name Transfer issue.
So as I have said publicly, Thomas seems to be a hindrance
to formulating consensus in the GA on any issue that would
possibly require a ballot to be issued so the GA members can
legitimately express their view in order to determine consensus
that is measurable.
