As explained by others, PIR returns a set of (invalid) info, along with
the correct WHOIS server to use at the appropriate current registrar. A
"recursive" WHOIS that properly returns the WHOIS in the form you
expect is at: http://www.betterwhois.com/

For example, for my games.org domain, you can see the output at:

http://www.betterwhois.com/bwhois.cgi?domain=games.org

Verisign technology being what it is, they'll maybe catch up to the
rest of the world in a few months.
