(Actually, and FWIW, that's not right. Recent CAIDA figures indicate that
98% of queries to the root zone are bad, but a relatively small proportion
of those bad queries are for nonexistent TLDs. The vast bulk of them
present other problems -- most importantly, repeated queries for TLDs that
*do* exist, where a misconfigured resolver, instead of accepting the answer
and going away, keeps on hammering the root server over and over with the
same query.)
