Ms. Cade,

Please feel free to share my comments where you feel they might be of value.  As a small business owner, I offer my customers a choice that empowers them to affect their own hosting and domain registration, or to allow me to facilitate those services for them.  My own registration experience made me understand how important it is to preserve the availability of those choices.

Thank you,

Tina L. Wilkins II

Subject: NO WLS PLEASE

At least not the way it's being proposed.  I believe it's unfair to all parties involved.

I searched the internet for 2 days to find what I felt was the best deal on registering a domain name until I found Dotster and it's affiliate, Hostway.  Please note that the first sight visited was Verisign.  I was really happy to find that there was competition out there that offered better prices, better affiliate programs for resellers, and an overall easier way of doing things.

Because the domain name I really wanted was already taken, I wanted a way of getting it if and when it became available.  I already saw some sort of service offered by SnapNames for a price I can't remember that gives me a chance of getting that name if and when it expires; however no guarantees.  I felt it was easier to simply use the Whois database and look up the domain name administrator/owner information.  If I really want it bad enough...I'll contact those folks.  (The domain name though registered was not accessible on the web, so I'm assuming not actually being used.)  I would have been much happier with a simple inquiry and brokering service for a reasonable fee of not much more than registration.  For now, I'm happy using an alternate domain name and getting along just fine without the WLS.

Sincerely,

Tina L. Wilkins II
