RE: [registrars] Conflict of Interest Declaration

First, let me second Mike's nomination of Rob Hall. I believe that under the new bylaws, Rob's nomination may need to be made by a member, defined as an accredited registrar. As I'm not sure whether or not Mike would fit that definition, I want to be sure that Rob's in "good standing" to run.

Second, I will answer the question below. I am sure that Mike intended to ask about Registry Advantage, not RegistryPro, with which I hadn't dealt at all in over 12 months, and which is not yet live.

As for Registry Advantage, the proprietary and sensitive information that was referenced in ICANN documents (from where the definition was lifted) and in the .name discussions, was with regard to gTLDs. Registry Advantage did not run any gTLDs.

As for the ccTLDs that Registry Advantage ran, while I don't believe that they are covered by this definition, I will be happy to assuage any concerns. There were fewer than a handful of small ccTLDs and fewer than a handful of accredited registrars registering those. I would have seen their monthly registration numbers from May to September 2002. I had not since then.

Regards, Elana

Elana:

I believe the definition of proprietary information that was discussed
during the GNR debate was broadly defined to include registrar market share,
financial terms, etc. Simply put that information disclosed between a
registrar and registry and not generally available to a third party, and
therefore most likely subject to a NDA. So it is my understanding that under
your declaration while employed at RegistryPro you never had access to any
documents regarding other registrars' market share within these respective
ccTLDs, finacial terms and/or conditions, etc?

This clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Mike
