[comments-wgb] Protecting Globally Famous Trademarks (2)
I have posted comments under the subj heading "TM
and and a Domain Name (Are they the same?)" and "Protecting Globally Famous
Trademarks"and I realized I did not include my name and where live (the name is
on my email..however I felt it necessary to clarify). I am getting the
impression that to give weight to your comments on this page you will need to do
so, therefore I submit the following info:

One last thought.....will giving a TM holder a
so called "Sunrise Period" be the antedote to cyberpirating on new gTLD's?
I congratulate Michael Palage for coming up with a plan that in summary takes a
"stab" at this problem, but for a 21st century solution I think it lacks the use
of available technology that could be put in place to protect those with a
trademark...Having said that just remember..Where will it stop and how much
should ICANN be involved...I forgot to mention from my earlier email (if you
read it) that sounds (which will be more predominant on the net in the future)
can also be protected from TM infringement. When we roll out voice
activated gTLDs ( I am predicting by 2002) will ICANN have a sunrise period
for claiming those? (see the nonsense)...OR from my earlier
email...colors? Just keep the use of available technology (http://www.dnso.org/dnso/dnsocomments/comments-wipo/Arc01/msg00012.html)
in the back of your minds when conteplating your plans...You always have to be
thinking at least 5 to 10 years down the road...Especially since your group will
have such a large say in what will happen to our Domain Name System. You
don't want history to reflect the fact you had a "Sunrise Period" at the
beginning of the 21st century to solve a problem that could have easily used
what I call a "technological sound approach"......By the way...I will also
release FREE to whomever and Idea that takes a different approach to accessing
web pages, other than the use of domain names....Might help also help (ICANN)
with trying to solve the Asian Character problem...as well as other
issues...Just remember...I would like name recognition for these Ideas (Greg
