RE: Attendance at the 22 January meeting

Folks,

I promised Chris Ambler that I was going to report again on this subject
before EOB (PST) Thu. 7, and that's what I'm doing.

I didn't have the time to go completely through today's E-Mail, so maybe you
know more than me on this subject (in particular about rumors on this
subject ;>)), but I'll tell you anyhow.

I will know the details tomorrow.
A venue had been found, but was inconveniently located out of town.
People would have had difficulties, in particular if Washington would enjoy
a day of freezing rain or snow, so the search for another location has been
underway.
Anyway, the location is definitively the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area:
I assume you can wait few more hours to know whether it is in Reston, in the
Oval Office, in Tysons Corner or in Georgetown.

About the times, it is going to be the whole day. I am expecting an official
announcement in a matter of hours (but I will be sleeping by then, so those
of you in the US will know before me).
If you plan to go to Boston for the Berkman Institute meeting (see
http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/rcs), don't plan for an early afternoon flight
out, of course.

It is not closed.
Of course, before the open session, you would expect the organizers to get
together to discuss the organizational details, as happens for every
meeting, including the IFWP meetings.
But the meeting itself will be open.

You're welcome. I hope it helps.

Let me add just a last thing.
I've seen that many people are getting worried about who has already passed
a deal with whom, who'se agenda is what, what the alliances are, what the
script of the meeting sais, and so on.

Let me tell you that, at this point in time, nobody has the slightest idea
of how the meeting will develop, not even to speak about the outcome.
I think that everything can happen.
Which makes me think that it will be one of the events you should not miss,
because your own opinion will count and your own vote may be determinant to
the direction the things may take.

See you there.

Regards
Roberto
