The nature and process that they have demonstrated, so far, should make 
clear why they are not a viable path to follow, for worrying about 
excessive registry leverage over locked-in customers.

Apparently you missed the fact that the $9 is only recent and is the direct 
result of long and painful pressure on NSI.  Even better is that it is 
STILL much too high a price, relative to reasonable costs.

All of this suggests that close oversight and control of registry behavior 
IS in fact necessary.
