How does the FCC know which frequencies it wants to auction? Public demand
is one factor. Industry demand is one factor. Collision with other
frequencies is one factor.
OK, let's measure industry demand:
Is there anybody out there who, among their other service offerings, would
be willing to register names in a proposed .anon TLD?
Is there anybody out there who, among their other service offerings, would
be willing to register names in a proposed .anonymous TLD?

For this to be an meaningful gauge of potential suppliers, we will have to
post this to the GA list, domain-policy, all the other domain name lists,
ICANN announce list, the relevant Usenet groups, maybe a couple of press
releases . . .
If no one responds then this was a bad idea for a TLD and then I'll say it
was Froomkin's idea.
