[wg-review] [Working Group] Objectives of this WG
An excerpt from YJ's `Outline for the DNSO Review':
"1. Objectives of the DNSO Review Working Group
The DNSO Review Working Group's objective is to evaluate
the performance of ICANN's DNSO and to propose structural
and procedural changes that will help ICANN's Domain Name
Supporting Organization fulfill its mission of becoming a bottom-up
policy coordination body.
The DNSO Review Working Group's objective is to evaluate
the responses of DNSO stakeholders' and to vindicate that DNSO
would be a structure that will include all of those who will be affected
by the DNS of the future as well as the current Netizens."
I would say that we're still well within the parameters of the objectives of this WG. But, before we can move ahead with suggestions and
recommendations/answers, shouldn't we agree on the issues? Are we not consensus building? Trying to hammer out a structure/process before we
recognize/admit the issues, is like patching up a bullet wound with band-aids. Let me just indulge my imagination and hypothesize a situation where there
was no ipso facto conflation of trademarks and domain names... what would we be so earnestly discussing then I wonder?
One thing the TF should pay close attention to during the course of this WG are the sentiments expressed by members of the largest, as yet
unrepresented, constituency: IDNH.
