I have it from reliable authority within ICANN that there have always been
plans to make ICANN multi-lingual. While I am not speaking in any way on
behalf of them, my feeling is that ICANN understand that they will never
be taken seriously internationally if they stick to English as the sole
language
for documents, conferences, etc. And rightly so !
I'd go even further in saying that ultimately I would wish that ICANN's
meetings were conducted with simultaneous translation in any of the
languages of the participants present, and transcribed in at least 6
languages. When will we see that ? Soon, I hope, but I expect ICANN to
spend $$$ on many other things (lawyers, conferences, etc.) before they
have enough $$$ in the bank to look at this seriously.

So let's build a roof over this house before installing the carpets. :-)
