RE: [wg-review] Ms. Broitman's Messages Contain a Virus
There is. But, I have also sent PDF attachements to the list. They are
non-executable and that's why I use them. Those of us whom actually know how
to run our computers are relatively unaffected, by virii. Neither my
lap-top, my Exchange server, nor my sendmail servers were effected. No
amount if attachment bans will prevent careless folk from becoming effected.
No amount of security will prevent an infested system from flooding this
list, or any other list, with spores.
Safe computing means abstainance. Don't click on executables from strangers.
Don't allow executable uploads. Above all, don't let your Win box hide the
known extentions from you. Fix it so you see the WHOLE file name. Maintain
the latest security updates yourself. Don't let some nimrod net-tech manage
that for you. Mostly, they don't. Most of them barely know the system better
than you do.
