Re: [wg-review] EDUCATION and Outreach

Mr. Burns is elected to represent the interests of his
electorate, not the world.
The US should advocate its interests, and other countries should
(believe me they will) advocate theirs.

I take it "this nation" is the US.
Does the Internet belong to the US then?
Does anyone else's opinion really matter?

Subject: [wg-review] EDUCATION and Outreach

Who is going to educate this man and his colleagues? Shall it be
a
cacophony of noise or a true education. ICANN must take the lead
here
or give it to someone else. I propose the hiring of an immediate
educational liaison from outside the existing structure.

Conrad Burns (R-Mont.) said it was premature to
propose a legislative solution. He promised
more
hearings on the matter.

"The Internet has become so important to our nation's well-being
that
we in Congress need to become better informed about its
operations," he
said.
"We may still choose not to legislate, but at least that choice
will be
an
informed choice." (WP-WASHTECH from worldatlarge site)

This and my last post are strong position papers, someone else
who is
not an advocate should write the summary, paying close attention
to the
previous WG on subject.
