As Italian, born in South America,
living in UK, (alledgedly EC, depending on who you ask to :-), working
for an American company, I do not doubt to prefer to communicate always
in English (even if bad/broken) as a "standard" ligua-franca=language -
PROVIDED cultural differences and necessary diversity awareness are still
respected in the tecnical contexts...
One of the differences that should
be respected in an international comunity like this one is that lingua-franca
English is a very reduced working set of the full English language, and
to this extent, whenever documents are written in "too elegant" English
by somebody whose mother tongue is English, the purpose of the lingua-franca
is lost....
Like in design, "elegance" of
tech documents/communications writing should (imho) be in simplicity, lack
of ambiguity and understandability by non mother tongue speakers of English...
