[wg-review] Names Council input
Sotiris writes: "I would like to remind everyone that the deadline for
submission of this report is April 16. I am hoping we will be able to meet
such a deadline, but this will only happen if the discussion remains tightly
and substantively focused on the issues of DNSO
restructuring/reorganization... To date, we've had two outline proposals
submitted, one by Jefsey Morfin, the other by Darryl "Dassa" Lynch."
It is my view that as all of our restructuring proposals will assuredly
impact the Names Council, we have the obligation within the context of a
consensus-based decision-making process to reach out to this potentially
impacted party to hear their views on restructuring as well. Marilyn Cade
has already expressed the thoughtful opinion that "In fact, the DNSO is a
"young" organization, and needs time to mature and change, as needed, to
represent the full set of stakeholders." Her comments suggest that we have
an additional option to consider - keeping an improved version of the status
quo structure.
If the recommendations of this Working Group are to be regarded as
meaningful and representative, then all viewpoints must be considered. I
would ask our Interim Chair to begin the outreach process by drafting a
letter to be sent to each Names Council representative asking for their
participation in these discussions. These Constituency representatives are
our current leadership, and having their points of view on record is
essential to this Working Group's efforts.
