I think the point is that we aren't discussing the five minutes required to
send the vote, its the amount of time that will be devoted to lobbying and
discussing which will be the distraction. That approach is also very tough
on those who can't be in Montevideo. 

Maybe what you're arguing for is a complete change of procedure. After all
if its THAT important then surely ALL candidates should be required to have
face to face meetings with ICANN Constituencies and ALL elections should be
organised to enable that to happen. But again I question, is that really
making the best use of our time?

I'd also suggest getting the vote over prior to the meeting seems to
represent the fairest approach for all candidates.
