[ga] what we share

What a terrible tragedy for all -- in human lives lost or harmed; in
economic impact; but most of all, in the loss of trust.

I learned of the World Trade Center crashes, along with a cab driver who is
in the U.S. from Egypt for 15 years, and who is very much a U.S. citizen...
and we both thought, almost simultaneously, of the issues of reaction toward
peoples from whatever country, or religion, or continent which the attacks
might have originated from...

I hope that all of us can, while we mourn this situation, and the damage to
individuals, also be ambassadors of concern that in any pursuit of the
perpetrators, that we don't accidentally create undue mistrust toward each
other, or any peoples.

Like others on this list, I am sad, and regretful, and perhaps even
frightened at what happens next. But, like others, also hopeful that
understanding can grow out of this terrible tragedy and that we will all, as
world citizens, not punish innocent people in the search for those who did
this.

Dear All,

I wish to extend my sympathy and prayers to all who will suffer from the
horrible tragedy which befell New York this morning.

May we all try to do our part to use this tool, the Internet, to move
the world toward a higher understanding of each other and rid us of such
hatred.

Sincerely,
Eric
