Not even a good try.  The only possible way your "solution" could work
would be if Amazon continues to own "amazon.com" indefinitely (*) into
the future, and can control the redirect at that url.  But if that's
the case, there isn't much point in changing domain names. 

But even in that case your solution is just pissing in the wind. 
Altavista shows 5,711,895 web pages with links to "amazon.com", and
altavista doesn't catalogue anywhere near all the pages on the web.  So
the real number is certainly much, much higher.  It would take a long,
long, *long* time before those URLs would be changed to point to, say, 
amazon.biz. 

The fact is that Amazon is locked in to amazon.com, period.  No
significant mitigation of this fact is available.
