[wg-review] 15. [DNDEF] Definition of the Domain Name, Report requested by Members
Dear Chair,
Several Members have voice here that one of the main problem for reaching a
consensus in a Consulting body to the BoD as the DNSO should be and will
become once the @large constituency is eventually enacted is based upon a
basic technical disagreement about the very technical, legal, commercial,
etc... nature of the Domain Name.
I therefore propose a new additional subject for this WG-Review subject as:
15. [DNDEF] Definition of the Domain Name, Report requested by Members
1. I propose to maintain the site http://dndef.org to maintain a current
status of the pending questions and achievements
2. I propose to start with the following general questions from Sotiris and
many other posts:
- different type of domain names:
- standard practice
- multilingual domain names
- access domain name
- dynamic domain names
- aliasing
- semantics
- TLD
- saxon/latin semantics
- ideograms
- formatted domain names
- rules of access
- member names
- search engines
- legal aspects definition
- name space
- ULDs vs. TLDs
- temporary TLDs
- copy rights
- private rights
- freedom of speech
- creativity
- naming property
- TM and logos, sounds
- exiting addressing, classification etc.. schemes
- leasing, holding, owning
- existing rights
- patentability
- impact of the lack of definition of the domain names in documents
- ordering a domain name
- selling a domain name
- UDRP
