[wg-review] New Athens or Washington?
I don't know the veracity of the tale, but I've heard it said that when considering what to name the capital of the New Republic, the Founding Fathers of
the United States of America considered the name "New Athens"... however, Washington was eventually settled upon.
I make the following appeal to all patriotic Americans on this List. Remember the Athens of old and what happened to her! I've said it before: History is a
hard topic to teach, because it's so hard to learn! When Athens was at her height, she demanded payment from tributaries of the Delian League by
threat of force. We all know what happened then... Let's not allow the infiltrators to topple the greatest achievement of the democratic impulse again.
I ask you: Is there really that much difference between starving people and shooting them? Economic sanctions and retaliations are just as effective, if
not more so.
The rest of the world must be considered. All other paths lead to conflict. We can no longer afford such risks as a species.
Show us what the true nature of American democratic spirit is all about. Be a light and a beacon to the rest of the nations, not their enslaver. It's better to
have friends than slaves. Machines can do much of the work for us now...
