Isn't .au in the process of change, though?  How about checking in with the
.fr, or some of the other ccTLDs re their model. Perhaps the new .ca?

I'm also concerned with how much input local citizens have in the operation
of
the ccTLD's.  Personally, I had never had any information regarding the .au
TLD
Registry and it's operation sent to me.  I did stumble across some
references
that I am in the process of following up but it concerns me there is not
wider
publicity given to such issues.  It would still seem to be  a "closed shop"
with
little chance of participation by ordinary users.  Admit, that if a person
is
interested they can chase up references and possibly find means to
participate.
I would like to see it easier for users to do so.
