Re: [wg-review] Representative Figures
Marilyn and Philip,
Thank you for clarifying the standard practice
among associations. However, I think it is
important to note that there are perhaps 14 or so
associations listed on the BC web site, that's 14
of 68 members listed. The voting power of these
associations (combined) does not amount to much in
comparison with the total of listed corporations.
For, it does not necessarily follow that the
interests of the members of the listed
associations are in line with the interests of the
big corporations that comprise the bulk of BC
Membership. After all, what's good for a shark is
not always good for a minnow.
Further, it is the case that for many of the
associations listed, there is no readily available
information (or links) to ascertain the extent of
the membership of these organizations. As well,
I'm wondering if it might not be preferable for
many -if not all- of the members of these
associations (as listed on the BC site), that they
be full members of the Business Constituency, but
are in fact barred from becoming full members by
the high price of membership?
Sincerely,
Sotiris Sotiropoulos
